FFW has a freelance / contract DevOps Support Engineer opportunity, to work with its partner, a major US company from the pharma industry.

 

The ideal candidate has several years of experience in a similar role, is motivated, self-started, with a positive attitude.

 

This is a 100% remote (candidates can be based anywhere), full-time (40 hours / week) opportunity. You need to be able to work on the US EST time zone, and you need to have the ability to overlap to the European time zone (GMT / CET) when it is needed.

 

Our future colleague will help teams solve a range of problems, as well as develop software and tools to empower our platform’s development teams.


He or she will collaborate with a wide range of internal partners to engineer automated solutions in an effort to remove toil and enhance stability for a variety of infrastructure, with an emphasis on scalability. Additionally, you will face challenges that require an engineering mindset and a desire to automate everything possible.

Responsibilities

  • Understanding customer requirements and project KPIs;
  • Implementing various development, testing, automation tools, and IT infrastructure;
  • Planning the team structure, activities, and involvement in project management activities;
  • Managing stakeholders and external interfaces;
  • Setting up tools and required infrastructure;
  • Defining and setting development, test, release, update, and support processes for DevOps operation;
  • Have the technical skill to review, verify, and validate the software code developed in the project;
  • Troubleshooting techniques and fixing the code bugs;
  • Monitoring the processes during the entire lifecycle for its adherence and updating or creating new processes for improvement and minimizing the wastage;
  • Encouraging and building automated processes wherever possible;
  • Identifying and deploying cybersecurity measures by continuously performing vulnerability assessment and risk management;
  • Incidence management and root cause analysis;
  • Coordination and communication within the team and with customers;
  • Selecting and deploying appropriate CI/CD tools;
  • Strive for continuous improvement and build continuous integration, continuous development, and constant deployment pipeline (CI / CD pipeline);
  • Mentoring and guiding the team members;
  • Monitoring and measuring customer experience and KPIs;
  • Managing periodic reporting on the progress to the management and the customer.

  • You have architected AWS based services, including infrastructure maintenance;
  • You are constantly learning and improving your skill set;

  • You have a history of writing performant, maintainable, testable code;
  • You enjoy reading and critiquing others code in code review;
  • You are passionate about automation and reducing toil;
  • You are committed to quality and experienced with modern software testing practices;

Bonus

  • Prior experience with automation and configuration tools like CloudFormation, GitHub Actions, AWS SAM, etc.
  • Prior experience writing web applications in PHP and Python;
  • Prior experience deploying cloud services, monitoring, alerting, and handling escalations;
  • You have experience supporting a high-availability SaaS environment;
  • You work well in charting new DevOps practices without a well-defined roadmap;
  • You thrive having the autonomy to operate in a meaningful problem space, solving real problems for real people;
  • You love collaborating with peers on software projects.
