FFW is hiring an Engineering Lead to work with its partner, a major US company from the pharma industry.

The ideal candidate has several years of experience in a similar role, is motivated, self-started, with a positive attitude.


This is a contract, but permanent position, 100% remote, full-time. For this role, you should be able to work on the US East Coast time zone (EST).


Our future colleague will join a brand-new team, and will supervise the delivery of the solution architecture (overseeing the development team). In this position, you will need to split your effort between meetings with stakeholders to analyze and shape requirements and the delivery team, where you will work with the PO and BA to communicate, design, refine and oversee the delivery of the requirements. We require someone with noteworthy qualities of persistence, attention to detail and resilience. You should be familiar with systems thinking, well versed in expressing business requirements and working with non-technical people.


In addition to this, you will be responsible for the solution architecture, technical design and data model of the platform including AWS infrastructure, integrations, API design and contracts, test strategy, performance, reliability, security and compliance.

Guiding the team to produce fit-for-purpose solutions is the ultimate measure of success, working closely with stakeholders and partner teams to discuss and understand vision, strategy and help everyone reach tactical next steps.


Key responsibilities will be leading the engineering efforts of the product team. This involves:

  • Understanding the overall roadmap, context and direction of the product and key partner teams by being part of the conversations and helping shape the roadmap;
  • Leading the estimation and working with the PO on prioritization of requirements;
  • Working with other platform architects and Enterprise Architecture to create an appropriate solution architecture and technical design;
  • Refining stories as part of team refinement sessions, bringing expertise to bear in defining the right solution design, acceptance criteria and testing criteria;;
  • Coordinating execution within the team, using agile development methods.;
  • Ensuring the team write the appropriate levels of unit tests, integration tests and work with the QA lead to ensure that quality is baked into everything the team deliver and that there is no artificial split between delivering lines of code and delivering testing outcomes. The team ships as a team, and experience of working in this sort of environment is a must.
  • Ensuring the team write documentation as required, including in-line code commentary, GitHub.MD documentation and confluence SDLC documentation that describes:
    - The purpose of the software;
    - The CI environment and deployment processes;
    - Development standards and processes;
    - Architecture, API and Design;
    - Architectural Decision Records;
    - How to develop the application(s) locally as a new developer on the team. Processes and checks for deployment to the cloud environments.


What you bring:


  • Excellent experience with AWS, including API gateway, Lambda, ECS, S3, Pinpoint, SQS, SNS;
  • Good working knowledge of OIDC flows and common Identity Products;
  • Excellent ability with Python;
  • Excellent experience writing automated tests (Unit, Integration, etc);
  • Excellent experience with API-led development.;
  • Excellent experience with Agile team processes, including Scrum, Scrumban.;
  • Experience with the types of process problems that come when trying to build complex, new applications and comfortable when things are uncertain and require problem-solving.;
  • Excellent experience estimating complex technical stories and breaking them down;
  • Strong written and spoken English.
