Infrastructure Engineer - remote

FFW is looking for an Infrastructure Engineer, able to work fully remote, in a multinational team.  This is a contract role (unlimited period), with our partner, a well-known company from the pharma sector. 

You’ll be part of a team that is responsible for building automation tooling that facilitates efficient delivery of services across our partner's digital marketing platforms. The group is composed of multiple self-directed and diverse teams which are distributed around the world. This team is responsible for designing, building, and operating Python based tooling hosted on AWS, which ties together various cloud services. This tooling enables other development teams to work better and more efficiently.

For example, with Terraform you might be developing modules that define and deploy AWS infrastructure of EventBridges, API Gateways and Lambda functions that facilitate distributed communication between multiple services and AWS accounts. You might also be collaborating with other infrastructure engineers on enhancing Terraform deployment pipelines with GitHub Actions and AWS Code Pipeline that make it easier and more efficient to get infrastructure changes deployed. Or you might be advising teams on how to instrument and monitor services to make them more robust and easier to operate.

What awaits you

• You will be responsible for designing and implementing new features and functionality;
• design solutions from mission needs and assess current systems to secure the best practices and balance by complying with federal policies and procedures. Engineers manage and maintain broad area virtual private networks (VPN);
• troubleshooting applications and providing J2EE application deployment. You will partner with the application development team on application building, implementation and fixing of issues;
• you will put together and install infrastructure components on networks and servers, ensure that the technical performance aspects in the infrastructure environment are optimized, including database, network, and application server performance;
• you will make sure that the infrastructure components are working in tandem and can be executed without compilation errors in various platforms and environments.

What you bring

We are looking for engineers with experience in some of the following areas:

• Cloud infrastructure tools – AWS CloudFormation, Terraform and Ansible;
• AWS services – especially Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions, SQS, SAM, EventBridge, CloudWatch ;
• Cloud networking and firewall design;
• Least privilege access;
• Zero trust architecture;
• Python 3.7+;
• Docker;
• Kanban delivery – we enjoy working with lean methods;
• Excellent asynchronous collaboration and communication.
